MARCH 2012
3/25: Empty Bowls Fundraising Event
Empty
Bowl started as an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Family Promise ESFV hosted our
second Empty Bowl fundraiser in March 2012 to continue our efforts providing safe shelter, meals and
support to homeless families. The event was a great success, bringing together people and groups from
throughout the community.
OCTOBER 2011
 10/16: Glendale Unity Fest
Family Promise ESFV had a booth at the City of Glendale's Unity Fest, spreading the word
in Glendale about Family Promise's mission to help homeless children and their families in our community.
10/15-16: 3rd Annual Cardboard Box City 2011
Cardboard Box City was an event for people of all ages to  raise money for and awareness
of homeless children and their families. Cardboard Box City 2011 was held at the Church of the Incarnation in Glendale and gave event participants the opportunity to experience a sliver of of what it is to be homeless. A big THANK YOU to all who participated, sponsored, planned, and volunteered in order to make this event such a success.

 7/16: Glendale Cruise Night
Family Promise ESFV had a booth at the City of Glendale's Cruise Night, spreading the word
in Glendale about Family Promise's mission to help homeless children and their families in our community.

4/9: Burbank On Parade

Promise ESFV participated in Burbank On Parade for a second year in a row! What a beautiful day to
walk the parade route!
SEPTEMBER 2010
9/25-26: Cardboard Box City 2010
 Cardboard Box City was an event for people of all ages to raise money for and awareness
of homeless children and their families. Held on, perhaps,
the hottest day of the year, Cardboard Box City 2010 gave event participants a real idea of what it is to be homeless in
extreme weather conditions. The event was a success - over 100 people attended and over $8,000 was raised.
A big THANK YOU to all who participated, sponsored, planned, and volunteered in order to make this event such a success.
 9/20: Building of Sukkah for Cardboard Box City 2010
Cardboard Box City 2010 coincides with the Jewish holiday called Sukkot.
Members of Adat Ari El Synagogue and Burbank Temple Emanu El came together to build a Sukkah for
use during the upcoming Cardboard Box City event. These pictures record the construction of the
Sukkah.
 9/20: Welcome Luncheon for Jacqueline White, Network Director
Held in the Community Meeting Room at the Buena Vista Public Library in Burbank, executive directors and staff of local social
service nonprofits, as well as governmental personnel focusing on homelessness were invited to a luncheon to welcome Jaci
as our network director.
9/14: Zach Bonner Walk Across America Event
Family Promise ESFV was invited to walk the last mile with Zach Bonner in his walkacross
America event that raised awareness for youth homelessness. Zach started his walk in March from Tampa,
Florida, and finished in Santa Monica on September 14, 2010. Jaci White, Network Director,
Jenny Greene, Board President, Jean Mourn, Board Secretary, and Debi Felser and Ruth Steward,
Volunteers were all glad to join in the last mile with this admirable young man.
APRIL 2010
 4/25: Family Promise First Annual Gala: CELEBRATE!
Held at the Embassy Suites in Glendale, approximately 200 people gathered for a night of music and
entertainment as Family Promise celebrated the hard work we have done in order to get to the point
of opening. A fun time was had by all, and
there were reporters present from the Burbank Leader (Thank you Melanie Hicken and David Laurell!).
Thanks to all who participated in this event, in raising money to help Family Promise "End Homelessness,
One Family at a Time."
 4/7:
Fresh & Easy Charity Donation
Family Promise ESFV was presented with a check for $1,000 from Fresh & Easy
Neighborhood Market at the grand opening of
their 150th store located in Burbank on Olive & Verdugo. Present at the event were (L-R): Barbara Lazar, Deena McCarthy,
Mayor Gary Bric, Bob Nicol, Tim J.R. Mason (Fresh & Easy CEO), Jenny Smith, Council Member Jess

9/26-27: First Annual Cardboard Box City
Cardboard Box City was an event for people of all ages to raise money for and awareness of
homeless children and their families. The event was a huge success - over 100 people attended and over
$16,000 was raised. A big THANK YOU to all who participated, sponsored, and planned in order to make
this event such a success.

 8/2: Strategic Planning Meeting
After a very successful board member orientation given by J.P. O'Connor, a few of our board members
gathered together to begin strategic planning for Family Promise. Here they are, working diligently for
homeless families.

2009
7/17: Family Fun Night at Lundigan Park
FP-ESFV board members and friends gathered for the City of Burbank's Family Fun Night at
Lundigan Park, close to our proposed Day Center site. We were there, amidst a reptile petting zoo,
a bouncy house, some great tacos, and a radio station. We invited children and neighbors to learn
more about Family Promise and to participate in decorating a cardboard box "house" to help
promote our Cardboard Box City event, later this September. Please click on the photos to see larger

 NOVEMBER 2008
11/9: FP-ESFV Murder Mystery Dinner
Held at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank, approximately 100 people gathered for a night of dinner
and mystery. A fun time was had by all, and the evening was written up in the Burbank Leader. Thanks
to all who participated in this event, in raising money to help support families in need.
